The Miss Lonelyhearts Column of the Winnipeg Free Press is often hit or miss on Asexual issues. The author has selected that a person identifying as Asexual seek help on more than one occasion. Today's column includes a warning that a letter writer may want to consult a physician if she wants to swear off lovemaking forever.
To help Miss Lonelyhearts improve her take on Asexual issues, Asexual News has decided to show where her response failed this time. It fails in several key areas, although some problems may occur to a lack of research.
Miss Lonelyhearts fails to identify the existence of Aromantic Asexuals. AVEN's current tone may, in part, be responsible for this- particularly with its most recent rejection of a forum for this segment of the Asexual community. The letter writer needs to know that it is okay if she does not experience romantic attraction to either sex.
The columnist's decision to exclude Armonticism may be a simple oversight, but let us go to the next section. She says there may be Asexual personal sites. To help clear it up, there are Asexual personals sites. Both AVEN and Asexual News link to these sites. Craigslist and other services have a platonic section. 2Date4love caters to people who are looking for nonsexual romantic relationships.
Now, let us address the medicalization that took place at the end of the column. Asexuals do not swear off physical intercourse. They simply do not feel a great need for it.
