Picard Meets the Doctor in New Star Trek/Doctor Who Crossover

Captain Picard never met the Doctor. No captain of the Enterprise has ever met the captain of British television science fiction. IDW has acquired the rights to do a special comic book cross over in which the leader of the NCC-1701-D will meet the owner of the Tardis.

Star Trek: The Next Generation and Doctor Who: Assimilation 2 attempts to take readers on an epic romp through time and space. The comic series is due out late in Spring 2012. BBC Worldwide and CBS Entertainment entered into a deal with IDW to produce the new comic book series.

Picard’s crew and the doctor’s companions need to stop an alliance between Borg and the Cybermen, according to the Comic Book Resources website.

Comic book fans can expect the nondescript sexuality of Picard to not at all clash with the nearly complete Asexuality of the doctor. Romance will probably not weigh heavily in the plot more than it does in any other comic book. Next Generation fans know that Riker usually engages in the romantic subplots. A romance may or may not blossom between the Enterprise’s executive officer and the doctor’s current companion, but this is wild speculation.

An alliance between the Cybermen and the Borg makes sense from a plot perspective. Fans of both Doctor Who and Star Trek expected the Daleks, rather than the Cybermen, to appear in such a crossover.
