Half a Dozen New Doctor Who episodes to Air in 2012

Steven Moffat has confirmed that there were only be six episodes of Doctor Who in 2012. Rumors about the BCC clamping down on production costs for the popular science ficition show continue, although they have not been confirmed.

Only the 2009 season saw fewer episodes of the popular sci-fi show. The BBC aired three specials in that year. Doctor Who’s 2012 season will consist of five regular episodes that lead up to the Christmas special. Karen Gillian and Arthur Darvill will leave when the Christmas special airs. A new companion will be introduced during the Christmas episode.

Fans of Moffat’s other BBC series, Sherlock, will have to wait until 2013 to see Series 3.

The Olivia Experiment Website Changes Description; Film to Air at Dances With Films Festival

The makers of the Olivia Experiment have changed the synopsis on their website so the main character is no longer described as Asexual. The film’s main premise remains the same. Marketing materials no longer claim that the main character is exploring her emerging sexuality.

A few pieces of problematic language remain on the site, including a description of AVEN as a support group for people who consider themselves to be Asexual, rather than describing AVEN as an organization for Asexuals.

The film will air at the Dances with Film Festival on June 7. Without seeing the ending of the film, or the rest of the film, it will be difficult for the author to determine if The Olivia experiment is a repeat of House’s “Better Half” episode, but it seems that the production company is trying to avoid the same mistake made by the writers and producers of the medical drama.

The Olivia Experiment

Asexual News has sent a request to Mansfield films asking for more information about this film. The marketing materials suggest Asexuality is not a real orientation, but it is difficult to tell what the intent of the film makers is from a two minute video clip.

The portrayal in the clip is similar to the way Asexuality was portrayed in House's Better Half episode, but the filmmakers have chosen to reveal little about how the film ends.
