"That's certainly going to have a ripple effect across the nation", said Ross Levi, executive director of the Empire State Pride Agenda". The reaction from opponents was predictable, such as "God, not Albany, settled the issue of marriage a long time ago," said Diaz, a Bronx minister."I'm sorry you are trying to take away my right to speak," he said. "Why are you ashamed of what I have to say"? (Diaz is also the leading opponent).

Linda Harvey, a right-wing radio talk show host has called Dan Savages It Gets Better” project, “dark, wrong” and evil". She also called the shock jock podcaster and columnist “vulgar, profane and anti-Christian,” according to LGBTQNation.
Savage has made comments that have not endeared him to LGBT groups. He has a bad reputation with Asexuals. Harveys comments seem misguided considering her own religious beliefs probably do not condone suicide.
The comments made on her program seem mystifying. “But they tag on to its approval of homosexuality and the implication that anybody who objects is just like those bullies out there and they’re leading you or others into suicide”, said Harvey during her radio broadcast. Rhetoric similar to Harvey is repeated by other Conservative Christians who feel that any form of disagreement with their position is a form of bullying.
