New Study Shows Evidence of Prejudice Against Asexuals

Asexuals are more likely to be viewed negatively than other sexual minority groups, according to a study conducted by Cara C. MacInnis and Gordon Hudson's Intergroup bias toward “Group X”: Evidence of prejudice, dehumanization, avoidance, and discrimination against Asexuals" was published in Sage's April 24 issue.
Participants were asked questions about how they saw people belonging to various sexual orientations. Heterosexuals were viewed more favorably. Asexuals did not do as well as their Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual counterparts.

HRC Form Gives Asexuals Opportunity to Educate Organization About Ace Youth

The Human Rights Campaign, an organization that does not currently represent Asexuals, is conducting a survey to find out how members of the LGBT community fare during their teenage years. Oxalis, a user on AVEN has asked for members of the Asexual community who fall into the 13 to 18 year old age range to fill out the survey.
HRC, GLAAD and other LGBT organizations have become more familiar with Asexuals and the Asexual community through the efforts of Asexual activists. Teens who identify as Ace can fill out the survey to provide more feedback on the state of youth in the Asexual community.

Aces in Boston can view Angela Tucker’s film (A)sexual at the Boston LGBT film festival. Amazon and iTunes announced that each service will sell the documentary over its download service in June. Boston residents can view the film on May 5.
Bloomington Indiana Aces and Allies to March in Cadillac Barbie Pride Parade

Bloomington Indiana Aces and Allies will appear in the Cadillac Barbie Pride Parade on June 9. Regina M. Wright, the founder of the Indiana Aces and Allies group, announced the group’s participation on her Twitter feed. Wright was also instrumental in the formation of the NWSA Asexuality group.

New York Metropolitan Community Church of New York to Hold Discussion on Asexuality and Spirituality

Discussions of Religion, Spirituality and Asexuality are not new. The discussions took place before AVEN formed early in the last decade. Religion, spirituality and sexuality are complex topics, but Asexuals have not even come down into definite camps. Official statements regarding Asexuality are rare, and one of the few religious books to mention it belongs to a controversial philosophy.
